Every year ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet)festival, My Tan commune in the northern province of Nam Dinh is filled withsplendid flowers.

The flowers are in full bloom for spring in time for the biggest holiday of theyear.

The bright flowers are matched by the smiles on locals’ faces as visitors flockin.

My Tan commune, the largest flower village in Nam Dinh province, has about 600farmers working on more than 200ha. Thanks to rising demand, many have expandedtheir cultivation areas and can earn 200-250 million VND (8,500-10,600 USD) perseason.

The flowers are the main source of income for local farmers.

My Tan commune is located by the Hong (Red) River, so the land is fed by theriver alluvium. This produces more vivid colours than flowers grown in otherareas. - VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
