Major fishing centre to be built in Khanh Hoa province

The Prime Minister has approved the construction of a major fishing centre in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa as proposed by the local People’s Committee.
The Prime Minister has approved the construction of a major fishingcentre in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa as proposed by thelocal People’s Committee.

The Government leadertasked local authorities to work with the Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development to complete the investment procedure in accordancewith the Law on Public Investment and list the project in the mid-terminvestment plan for 2016-2020.

He designated theprovincial People’s Committee to select a consultative unit to map outan investment plan for the project.

According to thenational strategy for fisheries development through 2020, Vietnam isscheduled to develop five fishing centres in major areas, includingKhanh Hoa province.

Khanh Hoa boasts advantages innatural conditions, geography, infrastructure and human resources; astrong capacity to attract financial resources and increase the addedvalue of aquatic products; and unified development planning, strategiesand policies.

Additionally, the local seafoodindustry plays a significant role in the south-central regional economyand national defence and security, according to the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development.

The locality andother central provinces including Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan andBinh Thuan will support one another to develop sustainable fisheries byexchanging information and experience in shipbuilding, cultivating andaquatic processing.-VNA
