Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s authoriꦯties have recently arrested many i♎llegal migrants from the Philippines, Indonesia and Myanmar.

Police in Penang state on September 22 arrested two Myanmar nationals, and 30 Indonesian, including 15 children, for using fake United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards.
Penang Immigration Department Operations Chief Fairuz Ismail said arrested suspects will be grouped and investigated for using falsified documents. Authorities are also investigating rings involving to such crimes, he added.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Maritime Police from September 20 to 22 detained 37 illegal migrants in the water of East Sandakan sea. The police force has also been put under high alert after the Philippine government launched large-scale military operations to wipe out Abu Sayyaf, the most violent of the Islamic separatist groups operating in the southern Philippines, and drug smugglers on Jolo island, causing many local people to flee their homes. Malaysia is concerned that Abu Sayyaf’s elements could mingle with those illegal migrants and enter the country.-VNA
