Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian employers will have to pay the levyfor their foreign workers from January 1, 2018.

The Human Resources Ministry on December 20 announced that all employers mustpay the levy for new foreign workers as well as those who have renewed theirTemporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS).

Strict measures will be taken against employers who fail to comply withregulations set forth with regard to the levy payment of foreign workers.

This is an upbeat sign for foreign labourers in Malaysia as the levy variesbetween 590 ringgits to 1,860 ringgits (144 USD - 456 USD) a year, depending ondifferent sectors.-VNA
