Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Mal🦹aysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim 🏅on November 28 announced emergency measures to address severe flooding in six states of the country, which has affected over 37,000 residents.

The Prime Minister said at the parliament that the government has set up 322 temporary shelters in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis, Johor, and Perak to support displaced residents. Kelantan, located in northeastern Malaysia near Thai border, is the hardest-hit state, with over 30,000 individuals from more than 9,000 households left homeless.
He highlighted that Malaysia’s Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for continuous heavy rainfall in Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu, with downpours expected to persist through November 29, potentially worsening the flooding situation. The PM has directed the National Disaster Management Agency to mobilise all relevant agencies to ensure the safety of citizens during the monsoon season and provide aid to those impacted by the floods./.
