Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES), themed “Accelerating Energy Transition Through Innovation”, commenced on August 20.

As reported by the country’s national news agency Bernama, the two-day event, organised by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), gathers over 5,000 global participants. It features 15 strategic partners, 70 exhibitors, and 70 speakers across four plenary sessions and eight deep-dive workshops.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Minister of PETRA, said the theme highlights the urgency of expediting the sustainable energy transition through innovative approaches.

“The summit is meticulously tailored with specialised topics designed to meet the needs of those striving for the wide-scale implementation of cutting-edge solutions to propel a sustainable energy future,” he said, as quoted by the new agency.

The Malaysian government has pledged to increase its renewable energy capacity nationwide, ꦓaiming for 40% by 2035 and 70% by 2050. Additionally, the nation plans to promote cross-border trade in renewable energy to ensure energy security for the ASEAN community./.
