Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’spolice have arrested a total of 55,903 people, including 2,304 foreigners, fordrug-related offences so far this year.

They also seized 82 million RM (18.5 millionUSD) worth of drugs, according to Malaysia’s Crime Investigation DepartmentDirector Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff .

He stressed that the result shows the hardstance of Malaysia on the fight against drugs

The director also said the drugs were intended tobe sold locally and its neighbouring countries. 

About six to ten years ago, the drugs used tocome from the Golden Triangle (a mountainous region between Myanmar, Thailandand Laos), then Iran and now from China, the director added. – VNA
