Master plan for IT parks gets approval

The Prime Minister has approved an overall plan for development of concentrated information technology (IT) parks by 2020 with a vision to 2030.
The Prime Minister has approved an overall plan for development ofconcentrated information technology (IT) parks by 2020 with a vision to2030.

The plan aims to build a number ofconcentrated IT parks in some provinces and cities with conditionssuitable for the purpose.

Such conditionsinclude having sufficient financial resources, both from local budgetand enterprises, to build infrastructure for the parks and alreadyhaving important IT projects, or IT products.

In addition, two to three IT parks will be built in Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City each.

In order to realise those targets, the PM urged the relevant agenciesto continue perfecting regulations, mechanisms and policies, especiallyincentive policies, concerning concentrated IT parks.

The Government head underlined that all economic sectors and foreigninvestors should be encouraged to participate in developing the parks,especially technical infrastructure inside the parks.

The master plan also calls for more investments in research anddevelopment in the IT parks as well as promoting exchanges and linkagesbetween the parks and research and training establishments as well as ITbusinesses.

Besides those measures, the PMsuggested creating mechanisms to allow the establishment of venturecapital funds to foster start-ups in IT parks.-VNA

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
