Maths guru gives lectures in Vietmam

Field medallist Ngo Bao Chau is giving lectures in a course held by the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) from July 11 to August 18.
Field medallist Ngo Bao Chau is giving lectures in a course held by theVietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) from July 11to August 18.

The course is an annual activity ofthe institute that takes advantage of professor Chau's return trips toVietnam for summer vacations.

This year's coursewelcomes 18 students and researchers from many top nationaluniversities in the US , the Republic of Korea and Canada .

Chau, now a professor at the University of Chicago , received theFields Medal in 2010, making him the first and the only Vietnamese toget the world's most prestigious maths award.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
