Media asked to focus on Party congress preparations

They should report fully feedback on draft documents prepared for theCongress, suggested Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and standing member ofthe Secretariat of the Party’s Central Committee.

At a national conference in Hanoi on December 31 to review mediaactivities in 2014 and set out plans for 2015, Le Hong Anh pointed outthat the regional and global situations continue to have complicated andunpredicted developments.

The media should,therefore, pay greater attentions to their coverage of resolutions,guidelines, and conclusions of the Party and State relating tosocio-economic development, sea and island sovereignty protection,sea-based economy, and border demarcation, he asked.

Themedia should continue efforts to solidify social consensus on theimplementation of guidelines, policies, and measures designed by theParty and Government, he emphasised.

The mediashould promptly draw out effective communication plans regarding theorganisation of the Party Congress at all levels in the run up to theseventh National Party Congress, he said.

Accordingto a report at the conference, throughout 2014, the media’s strongperformance was evidenced by its coverage of all beats of life in anaccurate, full, multi-dimensional, and prompt manner, activelycontributing to the national construction and defence as well as thebuilding of socialism, deserving as a reliable forum of the entirepeople.

At the same time, the media took importantpart in the protection of the national sovereignty over sea and islands,raising voice against wrongful arguments of hostile forces, said thereport.

The report, however, pointed out a number ofshortcomings, including the deviation from registered principles andpurposes by some newspapers, as well as the production of unconstructiveor wrongful information and scandals affecting the prestige of thecountry, organisations, businesses, and individuals.-VNA
