Thanh Hoa (VNA)🍌 – A World Bank-funded project on providing medical support to the north central region has achieved set goals and met schedule, the management board of the project in the central province of Thanh Hoa said at a review meeting on August 23.

Director of the Thanh Hoa project management board Ha Van Thuy said the project has helped increase health insurance coverage for near-poor households, provide them with quality medical services at the grassroots level, improve training capacity of medical staff and monitor the project’s activities.
Started in Thanh Hoa in 2011, the 15 million USD project benefited seven medical centres in the districts of Quan Son, Quan Hoa, Lang Chanh, Thuong Xuan, Nhu Xuan, Cam Thuy and Thach Thanh, eight general hospitals and Thanh Hoa medical college.
In the past five years, 216 medical workers were trained under the project. Thanks to financial aid equivalent to 5-10 percent of health insurance premium, nearly 535,000 near-poor locals have accessed health insurance.-VNA
