Metfone owns 48-percent share of Cambodia’s telecom market
Metfone, the Cambodia-based affiliate of the military-run telecom group Viettel, has sustained its share of 48 percent, also the biggest, in the local telecom market after operating here for a decade.
Hanoi (VNA) – Metfone, the Cambodia-based affiliateof the military-run telecom group Viettel, has sustained its share of 48percent, also the biggest, in the local telecom market after operating here fora decade.
Officially starting its operation in Cambodia on February19, 2009, the company immediately owned the biggest telecom infrastructure,providing services to all 25 provinces and cities in the host country.
Two years later, it captured the largest share of themarket, at 48 percent, and kept the figure until today. The firm recovered allof initial investment after four years working there.
By the end of 2018, Viettel obtained a dividend yield of 250million USD from Metfone, nearly six times higher than the initial capital itpoured in the subsidiary.
Viettel Standing Chairman Le Dang Dung said as the group’s firstventure overseas, Metfone has been modernized with advanced technologies like5G, artificial intelligent, virtual reality, and big data.
At a recent ceremony celebrating its 10th establishment anniversary, Metfone was bestowed upon with a first-class labourorder of the Cambodian Royal Government for its contributions to the countryand the local telecom sector.-VNA
