Midfielder Luong Xuan Truong signs for Buriram United

Following a successful AFC Asian Cup 2019, midfielder Luong Xuan Truong of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) has joined Buriram United Football Club of Thailand.

Hanoi (VNA) - Following a successful AFC Asian Cup 2019,midfielder Luong Xuan Truong of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) has joined BuriramUnited Football Club of Thailand.

The transfer fee and Truong’s salary has not been revealed after the playersigned a one year contract with Burirum.

HAGL announced the 23-year-old passed a medical and is ready to play for theThai club.

Buriram United were Thai champions last season finishing 16 points ahead ofrunners-up Bangkok United. They will play in the AFC Champions League groupstages this season against China’s Beijing Guoan, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamondsand the Republic of Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Buriram are considered the most successful teams in Thailand. During the past10 years, they were crowned champions seven times and often reached theknock-out rounds of the AFC Champions League.

Meanwhile, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong of HAGL is reportedly close to signing aone-year loan deal with K League club Incheon United with the officialannouncement set to take place soon.

“We have received a lot of invitations from clubs of Thailand, Japan and Europewith HAGL players. HAGL believe Truong and Phuong will prove their abilities,skill and spirit and experience,” said HAGL manager Nguyen Tan Anh.

Phuong has scored eight goals in 31 international appearances for Vietnamincluding at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 campaign in which Vietnam won as well asthe AFC Asian Cup where they reached the quarter-finals.

Truong played for Incheon United of the RoK for two years and Phuong went outon loan to Japanese second division side Mito HollyHock in 2016.-VNA
