Minh Phu Seafood Corp aims at 550 mln USD in exports

The Minh Phu Seafood Corporation of the southernmost province of Ca Mau has set a target of earning 550 million USD from exports by the end of 2014, following the optimistic outcomes of the first months of this year.

According todeputy director Chu Van An, the group posted over 140 million USD inexport turnover at the beginning of this year, the highest everrecorded.

It currently tops the list of 10 local businessesthat have strength in processing aquatic products. Despite difficultiesin the year just gone, the group recorded 520 million USD compared toone billion USD in export turnover of the province.

Its frozen seafood products are being sold in over 40 countries and territories.

To realise the target, An said the most important thing is to stabilise the source of materials for supplying factories.

Local authorities should plan and develop the shrimp industry in asustainable manner, while farmers are advised to select high qualityshrimp and avoid using antibiotics.
