More underground car parks for central Hanoi

Hanoi is to build more underground and multi-storey car parks to meet public demand, as there are 10 times more cars in the city than there are parking spaces.

The Hanoi People’s Committeehas approved the construction of four car parks in Hoan Kiem, Hai BaTrung and Cau Giay districts, which are scheduled to begin constructionin 2013.

Three other car parks in Hoan Kiem district are also to be built, starting in the third quarter of this year.

The Municipal People’s Committee has also approved a proposal by thecompany Bac Viet to build two car parks in Hai Ba Trung and Dong Dadistricts, and the Hanoi Car Parking Company will construct twoautomatic steel-framed car parks in Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts.

The Hanoi authorities have asked that the constructionof two current car park projects in Hai Ba Trung district to becompleted by the third quarter of this year.-VNA
