Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar’s Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) on December 15 approved the draft framework for holding political dialogue between the Government an💛d ethnic a𝔍rmed groups.

The approved framework will be submitted to President U Thein Sein. The first round of union peace conference is scheduled to take place before January 14, which is in accordance with the timeline of the term of Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA), according to Xinhua. The UPDJC comprises more than ten representatives from the Government, ethnic armed groups and political parties, including the election-winning National League for Democracy Party, the current ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party, Arakan National Party and Shan National League for Democracy, among others. On December 8, the Union Parliament approved the NCA signed between the Government and eight ethnic armed groups in mid-October. The two sides were also set to map out a political framework within 60 days after the formal NCA signing and start a political dialogue within 90 days.-VNA
