Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi made her firstvisit to the country’s northern state of Rakhine, where conflicts forced many RohingyaMuslims to run to neighbouring Bangladesh.
Shevisited Sittwe, Maungdaw and Buthiduang villages during her one-day trip, inwhich the two latters are the conflict-battered areas of the state, said UZaw Htay, Spokesman of the Myanmar Government.
Myanmarleaders prioritised three main tasks to be done in Rakhine – repatriating refugeeswho have crossed over to Bangladesh and providing humanitarian assistanceeffectively; resettlement and rehabilitation; bringing development to theregion and establishing lasting peace.
TheGovernment has launched projects to reestablish peace and stability in thestate after Aung San Suu Kyi called for the formation of the Union Enterprisesfor Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development (UEHRD) in Rakhine.
Accordingly,relevant ministries and bodies have implemented priority projects in a widerange of fields.
