Myanmar has set a goal of attracting over 6 billion USD of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

Hanoi (VNA) –Myanmar has set a goal of attracting over 6 billion USD of foreign directinvestment (FDI) in the 2017-2018 fiscal year. In the first four months ofthe fiscal year starting from April 1, 2017, Myanmar drew 3.1 billion USD from20 countries, generating 30,000 job opportunities for local people. China, Singapore, theNetherlands and the Republic of Korea topped the list of investors with Chinamaking up 26 percent of the total investment. Attractive fields includeindustry, construction, transport and telecommunication.

Some 9.48 billion USD of FDIwas poured into Myanmar in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, and 6.4 billion USD inthe 2016-2017 fiscal year.-VNA
