Hanoi – The 14th NationalAssembly (NA) convened a plenary session in Hanoi on November 15 under thechair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

In the morning, lawmakers adopted the draft Law on Forestryafter hearing a report on acquiring feedback on the bill presented by Chairmanof the NA’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Phan Xuan Dung

Discussing the revised draft Law on Competition, 23 legislatorsraised opinions on the State policy on competition, monopoly, unhealthycompetition behaviours, and dealing with competition violations among others.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh later clarifiedseveral relevant issues.

Chaired by National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, the afternoonsession looked into a project to revise the Law on Physical Training andSports.

Twenty-two deputies voiced their comments on the scope ofgender equality included in the draft law; policies on public physical trainingand sports; sports for competition and professional sports; rights and dutiesof trainers and athletes; sport betting; sport business, and internationalcooperation in the field, among others.

The NA heard Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism NguyenNgoc Thien’s report to clarify a number of queried issues at the session.

On November 16, the NA will discuss a report onsupervision of the handling of constituents’ petitions to the 14th NA’s third meeting, while holding a question and answer session to be broadcastlive on Vietnam Television and Radio the Voice of Vietnam channels.-VNA
