NA leader affirms boosting ties with Venezuela

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has told Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro that Vietnam supports the constitutional government of Venezuela and attaches much importance to developing multi-faceted with the country.

Havana (VNA) – Chairwoman of the National AssemblyNguyen Thi Kim Ngan has told Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro that Vietnam supports the constitutional governmentof Venezuelaand attaches much importance to developing multi-faceted with the country.

The NAleader, who met the Venezuelan President in Havana,Cuba on November 30 during hervisit to Cubato attend the funeral of late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, said shebelieves Venezuelan people will overcome current difficulties and challenges tomake their country prosperous.

On hispart, President Maduro repeated the invitation to visit Venezuela to Party and State leaders of Vietnam. Helauded the tradition of national protection of Vietnam as well as achievements duringthe country’s renewal course.

He statedthat Venezuela hopes andwill work to foster friendship and comprehensive partnership with Vietnam.

The twoleaders shared delight at the progress of joint agricultural projects in Venezuela in the 2015-2018 period, which werereached during President Maduro’s visit to Vietnam in August 2015.

They agreedthat leaders of both countries should continue maintaining the existingbilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the Inter-Governmental Committeeand the Deputy Foreign Ministerial Political Consultations.

The twosides should speed up agreements and commitments reached by their leaders, especiallyin agriculture, energy, oil and gas, while seeking measures and specificpolicies to raise two-way trade, which is currently at around 15 million USDper year and is yet to match the potential and expectations of Vietnam and Venezuela, they said.

The twoleaders also affirmed their determination to continue close coordination andmutual support at international organisations and multilateral forums.

PresidentMaduro promised to visit Vietnamin a convenient time.

The sameday, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met Cuban hero and patriot AntonioGuerrero.

On November30, the NA leader and the delegation of the Party and State left Havana for Hanoi,concluding their visit to Cubato attend the funeral of Fidel Castro.-VNA
