NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty visits China

A delegation of Vietnam’s National Assembly led by Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty is paying an official visit to China from December 18-22, as a step to carry out cooperation agreements between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Beijing (VNA) – A delegation of Vietnam’sNational Assembly led by Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty is paying an official visit toChina from December 18-22, as a step to carry out cooperation agreements betweenthe legislative bodies of the two countries.

On December 19, Ty, also President of the Vietnam-China FriendshipParliamentarians’ Group, was received by Chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang.

Zhang Dejiangemphasised that China treasures the comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership with Vietnam, and urged the two sides to make greater efforts torealise the comprehensive cooperation between the Communist Party of China andthe Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the two countries.

Regarding disputes at sea, Zhang Dejiang said the two countries should controldisputes and solve problems through friendly talks and mutually beneficiarycooperation.

Lawmaking bodies of the two countries should implement common perceptions reachedby their leaders over the past time and intensify cooperation mechanisms.

The two sides should join hands to implement cooperation agreements between thetwo NAs, and increase high-ranking delegation exchange and the sharing ofexperience in law and Party building, he said.

He underlined the significance of communication work to raise trust of peopleof the two countries, considering this a foundation for a strongerrelationship.

Zhang Dejiang took the occasion to repeat an invitation from Chinese PartyGeneral Secretary and President to NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to pay anofficial visit to China in 2018.

For his part, NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty highlighted positive developments ofthe bilateral ties over the past time, as evidenced through regular visits andmeetings between high-ranking leaders of the two countries.

He called on the two sides to look at disputes at sea from the angle of a long-termstrategic vision and international sea-related law, adhere to the Declarationon the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, soon complete a Code of Conduct inthe East Sea, and fully respect legitimate interests of concerned parties.

Later the same day, Ty held talks with Xiang Ba Ping Cuo, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the NPC, and met with ViceChairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political ConsultativeConference Wang Jiarui.

During the meetings, the two sides affirmed the importance both Vietnam andChina attach to the bilateral relationship.-VNA
