Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc onNovember 17 joined residents in Dien Bien ward of Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district inthe great national unity festival, an annual event held nationwide to mark thefounding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930).

Local officials reported that in 2017,authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and organisations in DienBien ward, where many top agencies of the Party and State are headquartered,presented hundreds of Lunar New Year gift packages to low-income and policybeneficiary families. 

Local authorities and residents have paidattention to caring for revolution contributors and the elderly. Meanwhile,solidarity and mutual support have been maintained, becoming a cultural customin the community.

Offering his best wishes to Dien Bien residents,PM Phuc said national development and the great national unity bloc areinseparable.

He applauded the ward’s achievements, especiallyin supporting impoverished households and promoting civilised lifestyle. Heasked Dien Bien authorities to enhance people’s role in managing and developingthe ward.

The Government leader also called on locals touphold solidarity and mutual support and join hands to build a strong politicalsystem, thus continuing to bring into play the strength of the great nationalunity bloc.

At the event, the PM, National Assembly ViceChairman Uong Chu Luu and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen DucChung presented gifts to deprived families in Dien Bien ward.-VNA
