Natural disasters continue to hit Indonesia, Thailand

Most victims are living in Argomulyo village, 18 km from the massive eruption.

One of ten Vietnamese overseas students, who are studying in GadjahMada University and Sanata Drama University in Yogyakarta city,800 km from Jakarta and 20 km north of Merapi, said they are now insafe condition.

The Vietnamese students are about to be evacuated from the disaster area to Solo region, 70 km from Yogyakarta city.

It is reported that by Nov. 5, 102 people have been killed and 100,000people have to live in temporary conditions since the eruption startedon October 26, almost without interruption.
Areas in dangerhave been expanded to 15 km from 10 km in terms of radius, and expertsare worried that there might be a larger eruption in three or fourweeks.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the flooding thathit many provinces of Thailand has risen to 140, announced the ThaiDisaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on November 5.

Currently, a total of 1.69 million people living in 94 districts of 19provinces of Thailand are still affected by adverse impacts of naturaldisasters after the tropical low pressure-triggered floods hit southernThailand on November 2./.
