Nghe An (VNA) – Thecentral province of Nghe An is calling on businesses to come to build, manageand operate local seaports.

In the seaport system of Nghe An, Cua Lo isaimed to become an international seaport with some major specialised wharvesbeing under construction.

Among them, Vissai wharf is being built by theSong Lam Cement Joint Stock Company to serve the transportation of cement,clinker and coal. Meanwhile, a wharf of the Thien Minh Duc Joint Stock Companywill handle the shipment of gasoline and oil once it is put into operation.

A wharf for 30,000 DWT ships and another for50,000 DWT vessels are also being constructed at the deepwater seaport of CuaLo. Two other facilities of the Cua Lo Port Co. Ltd there are set to becomeoperational in the near future.

Cua Lo port is oriented to handle at least 12 million tonnes of cargoes a year.

At the Dong Hoi port area, the Vicem Hoang MaiCement Joint Stock Company is building a wharf for the shipment of cement andconstruction materials. The Thanh Thanh Dat Co. Ltd is building a road to DongHoi Port and plans to inaugurate a wharf for 30,000 DWT vessels at this port in2020.

Nghe An’s seaport development plan was made inline with the socio-economic development plans of the province and the northerncentral region, as well as the seaport system plan of Vietnam, according tolocal authorities.

However, Nghe An is also facing difficulties ininvestment attraction, capital sources and site clearance in the implementationof seaport projects. Therefore, it wants businesses’ stronger engagement in thefield.-VNA
