Ninh Thuan: charity programme saves 400 children with heart diseases
The Association for Sponsorship of Poor Patients of Ninh Thuan Province has supported 401 children with congenital heart diseases over the past nine years.

Ninh Thuan (VNA) -The Association for Sponsorship of PoorPatients of Ninh Thuan Province has supported 401 children withcongenital heart diseases over the past nine years.
The figure was released by president of the associationHoang Thi Ut Lan at a conference to review the surgery programme for localchildren with congenital heart diseases from 2008 – 2017 on August 1.
The operations, 393 conducted domestically andeight in the Republic of Korea, cost a total 29.5 billion VND (1.3 millionUSD).
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Le Van Binh called on organisations, units andindividuals from the province and other localities to aid poor and needypatients, particularly children with congenital heart diseases.
On the occasion, more than 1.3 billion VND(57,200 USD) was raised to help more needy child patients.
Nine units and six individuals were honouredduring the event for their contributions to the charity work.
The association also presented 20 scholarshipsand some 200 gifts to needy children.-VNA
The Singapore National Heart Centre will help the Military Hospital 175 build a cardiac rehabilitation clinic, according to a pact signed between the sides in Ho Chi Minh City on March 8.
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) will continue to be a reliable address for philanthropists as well as mobilise more domestic and foreign resources to better social security and care for children, said Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.
Cardiac rehabilitation, a medically supervised programme including exercises, should be provided to patients with heart problems for them to recover after surgery, a Japanese physical therapist said.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
