Online purchases in the Republic of Korea (RoK) continued to show solid growth in February, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Seoul (VNA) – Online purchases in the Republic of Korea (RoK) continuedto show solid growth in February, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The total value of transactions made with computers, smartphones and tabletsreached 7.91 trillion KRW (7.49 billion USD) in February, up 11.6 percent froma year earlier, Yonhap cited data from Statistics Korea as saying.

The sharp rise was attributed to the increased demand for daily necessities andfoods on occasion of the Lunar New Year holiday that fell in mid-February andthe 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics that ran from February 9 to 25.

The total value of mobile transactions soared 22.8 percent to 4.78 trillion KRWthanks to rising sales of pet supplies, furniture and foods.
