Hanoi (VNA) –ꦚ The CARE International in Vietnam on October 31 launchedactivities to support flood-hit residents of the northern mountainous provinceof Hoa Binh to overcome consequences of severe floods in early October.

Accordingto the organisation, it has provided support to 10 communes in Hoa Binh’s threedistricts of Lac Thuy, Yen Thuy and Mai Chau. As many as 8,675 people in morethan 1,730 households received hygiene kits, along with blankets, mosquito netsand water filters. Theaid, came from financial support from the Start Fund, an NGO-managed emergencypooled fund that is financed by the Governments of Ireland and the UK, costsover three billion VND (132,142 USD). Continuous downpours from October 10 triggered floodsand landslides in Vietnam’s northern and north central regions, causing hugelosses in humans and property.  Up to 75 people were killed, 38 injured and 28 otherswent missing. More than 2,600 households were forced to evacuate.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
