Over 22,400 Vietnamese students study in US

More than 22,440 Vietnamese youths studied in the US in the 2016-2017 academic year, a rise of 4.8 percent year-on-year, according to the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 22,440Vietnamese youths studied in the US in the 2016-2017 academic year, a rise of4.8 percent year-on-year, according to the US Consulate General in Ho Chi MinhCity.

Of the figure, there are 15,266undergraduates and 3,503 postgraduates, accounting for 68 percent and 15.6percent, respectively, of the total. Meanwhile, 1,650 Vietnamese studentsjoined non-decree programmes in the US, or 7.4 percent.

The number of Vietnamese students inundergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the US has been on the rise, whilethat of non-decree courses has been declining.

Vietnam currently ranks six among countriesand territories with the largest number of students in the US, equivalent tothat of Taiwan. International students mostly enrol in courses of engineering, businessadministration, mathematics and computer science.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
