He led the nation to success in the struggle fornational independence and in establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (nowthe Socialist Republic of Vietnam) following the August Revolution in 1945. ThePresident passed away on September 2, 1969.

The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi will reopen for visitors from August 16 after the temporary closure for annual maintenance and renovation in 2018.
