Overseas Cambodians urged to return home for general election

The National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia has issued a call to all Cambodians who are on mission or living and working abroad to return and vote to exercise their rights at the 7th legislative election on June 23.

Phnom Penh(VNA) – TheNational Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia has issued a call to all Cambodians who areon mission or living and working abroad to return and vote to exercise theirrights at the 7t🥀h legislative election onJune 23.

In a statement onJune 14, NEC also requested the cooperation of all embassies of Cambodia to helpdisseminate the appeal to the Cambodian people who are completing missions orliving and working abroad extensively. In the upcoming election, 17 political parties willparticipate in the electoral race against the ruling Cambodian People's Party(CPP). Early this month, the Cambodian Government decided to allowworkers, officials, and labourers in the country to have 3 days off from July22-24 to join the general election. Cambodiaholds the general election every 5 years. The most recent one took place onJuly 29, 2018./.
