PAPI improves public administration performance

A seminar introducing a report on the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) in 2012 took place in the central city of Da Nang on July 2 with the attendance of delegates from people’s councils of central and Central Highlands provinces and cities.
A seminar introducing a report on the Provincial Governance and PublicAdministration Performance Index (PAPI) in 2012 took place in thecentral city of Da Nang on July 2 with the attendance of delegates frompeople’s councils of central and Central Highlands provinces and cities.

The report analyses the operations of localauthorities, providing a useful and reliable reference for voters tocast votes of confidence on officials elected or approved by people’scouncils.

PAPI is a policy tool that aims to measurethe administration and governance efficiency of the State administrationsystem in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Theindex is based on a philosophy of considering citizens publicadministration agencies’ “customers”, who are capable of overseeing andassessing the effectiveness of governance and public administration oflocal authorities.

The report is the outcome of a 2012survey of 14,000 people. It was the first time PAPI conducted a pollacross the country’s all localities.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
