Vietnamese students in France hosted a traditional musical performance on June 14 to raise funds for poor students in their home country.

Vietnamese students in France hosted a traditional musical performance on June 14 to raise funds for poor students in their home country.

The gala night is only one of charity activities by the Dong Hanh Scholarship Fund of Vietnamese students in France , which also aims to introduce Vietnamese culture to French people.

Performances of traditional folk songs from three Vietnamese regions have attracted a great number of students, Vietnamese expatriates in France and other organisations and individuals who support the fund.

Founded in 2001, the fund has expanded its operation to England , the US and Singapore . It has so far granted more than 1,300 scholarships worth two billion VND to Vietnamese poor students with excellent academic results.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
