Seoul (VNA) - Party General Secretary To Lam met with members of the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea (VINK) and Vietnamese experts living and working in the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Seoul on August 10 as part of his state visit to the RoK.

Co-organised by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and the VINK, the event reflected the attention of the Party, State, and General Secretary Lam towards overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to advancing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang noted that the Vietnam Innovation Network operates under the sponsorship of the National Innovation Centre (NIC), which implements Party and State policies to attract talent, embrace global technological advances, and harness the intellectual resources of the Vietnamese community abroad.

Present in 22 countries and territories, the network counts more than 2,000 members, including experts, scientists, chief engineers, and lead architects across key industries.

Guided by Politburo Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW and No. 68-NQ/TW, the NIC supports five specialised innovation networks in strategic technology sectors, collaborating with universities, research institutes, enterprises, and the National Data Centre to tackle national challenges, he noted.

At the meeting, Vietnamese experts in the RoK working in priority sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), advanced biomedical sciences, robotics, autonomous systems, aviation, aerospace, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) made proposals, shared experiences, and offered innovative solutions.

Speaking at the meeting, the Party chief applauded contributions from VINK members and Vietnamese experts in the RoK, particularly ideas on integrating Vietnam into global value chains led by major technology corporations.

He underscored the timeliness of the network’s initiatives and cited four key Politburo Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology development, and digital transformation; No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration; No. 66-NQ/TW on legal reform; and No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic sector development as pillars of reform driving Vietnam’s goal of becoming a developed, high-income nation by 2045.

He stressed that high-quality human resources and joint efforts from intellectuals, experts and businesses at home and abroad are critical to this vision.

To deepen cooperation and open new avenues of collaboration, the General Secretary encouraged the VINK to enhance its role as a strategic bridge between domestic and global innovation ecosystems.

He urged the network to strengthen connections between Vietnamese professionals in the RoK and relevant Vietnamese organisations and enterprises.

It should take the lead in introducing new initiatives, facilitating knowledge transfer, and bringing international advances to Vietnam, he said, calling on the network to promote solidarity and mutual support within the Vietnamese expert community, building a united force for national development.

ꦡ He also requested that Vietnamese ministries and relevant agencies, particularly the Ministry of Finance, continue to coordinate and support the transfer of ideas into tangible solutions, high-value products, and practical initiatives, helping tackle national challenges and realise Vietnam’s long-term development goals./.
