Hanoi (VNA) – 🥀A photo book on Vietnam’s war to defend its northern border in 1979 byphotographer Tran Manh Thuong has recently been introduced to the public.
The award-winning workfeatures 125 documentary photos in black and white on the defence war in thenorthern province of Cao Bang in February 1979, demonstrating the solidarity,indomitability and victory of the Vietnamese army and people. Thuong joined a photographytraining course in Germany and was honoured with various awards for his works. On February 17, 1979,China launched a large-scale attack on Vietnam’s territory along the northernborderline between the two countries from Phong Tho (Lai Chau province) to MongCai (Quang Ninh province). Thuong was the solephotojournalist present in Cao Bang on the day.

Exercising theirlegitimate right to defence, Vietnam’s army and people fought back with greatfortitude. Suffering heavy losseswithout achieving the initial goal of the attack while being condemned by theworld’s opinions, China withdrew all its military forces on March 18, 1979./.
The art of command during the northern border defence war in 1979 is analysed in an article by Associate Professor and Doctor Ho Khang, former deputy director of the Vietnam Military History Institute.
Many activities have been held in the northernmost province of Ha Giang on February 17 and 18 to pay tribute to martyrs and veterans who joined the war defending the northern border four decades ago.
The northern border defence war in 1979 and Vietnam’s defence experience were the main themes of a scientific symposium held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 4.

According to the indictment, during the execution of various projects and procurement packages across the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Quang Ngai, and Phu Tho, Phuc Son Group's Chairman and General Director Nguyen Van Hau, who is also Chairman of the Thang Long investment, trade and real estate JSC, either personally committed, directed subordinates, or worked with partner entities to carry out unlawful activities related bidding and accounting procedures.

Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
