PM appoints Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency

Hanoi (VNA) –
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has appointeda Deputy General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Nguyen Tuan Hung, Director of the VNA’s Centre of Technology, wasappointed to the post under Decision No. 1425/QD-TTg.

The VNA is a Governmental agency which isresponsible for providing official information and documents of the Party andState, according to the Government’s recently-released Decree No118/2017/ND-CP.

The decree also regulates that the VNAprovides information in service of the Party leadership and State management;and collect and provide news through various forms of press and multimedia formass media agencies, the public and readers of all kinds at home and abroad.

Performing its function as a key nationalexternal news agency, the VNA collects, compiles and provides information aboutVietnam in different languages for domestic agencies and organisations andforeign media outlets, as well as for foreigners and Vietnamese people abroad.

The VNA is also tasked with providinginformation and publishing news materials for ethnic minority people in theirlanguages.

It is in charge of archiving information,building an information and data bank and managing national photo materials;and providing information and coordinating with relevant agencies to provideinformation in services of national security and defence.

The VNA General Director and Deputy GeneralDirectors are appointed and dismissed by the Prime Minister in line withlaws./.
