PM extends sympathy to families of victims in Egypt’s deadly bomb blast

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has conveyed sympathy to the families of victims in a deadly roadside bomb blast in Egypt on December 28.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has conveyed sympathyto the families of victims in a deadly roadside bomb blast in Egypt on December 28.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to conductcitizen protection, support treatment for the injured and facilitate conditionsfor their relatives to come Egypt to perform relevant procedures.

Vietnam strongly condemns the terror act that killed and injured manyVietnamese nationals. Vietnam requests Egyptian authorities to carry out aninspection to look for and mete out fitting punishment to attackers, theministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said.

She said on December 29 that Vietnam highly appreciates cooperation from the governmentand people of Egypt in helping treatment and citizen protection for theVietnamese victims.

Vietnam calls on countries to join hands to fight terrorism to ensure the peacefullife and safe travelling for citizens across around the world, she added.

Earlier, the MoFA contacted the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam, proposing grantingemergency visas to relatives of the victims, in order to help them to comeEgypt soon to solve interests of the victims.

The Ministry also instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt to continuekeeping close watch on the situation and work closely with local authorisedagencies to ensure legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens.

Three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian were killed in Egypt when a roadsidebomb blast hit their tour bus near the world-famous Giza pyramids at 18:15 ofDecember 28 (Egypt time).

There were 18 people on the bus at that time, including 15 Vietnamese touristsand three Egyptians, said the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt.

Of the 12 Vietnamese injuries, 10 are seriously injured and being treated inhospital.-VNA
