PM leaves for UN climate change conference in Paris
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Hanoi on November 29 for Paris to attend the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21).
Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Hanoi on November 29 for Paris to attend the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) at the invitation of French President Francois Hollande.
The PM will later pay working visits to Belgium and the European Union at the invitation of his Belgian counterpart Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker.
The Government leader is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Nguyen Minh Quang, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong, among others.
The COP21, one of the largest global conferences this year, is expected to attract around 40,000 delegates from governments, intergovernmental organisations, UN agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) all over the world.
The presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at the COP21 will demonstrate Vietnam’s deep commitment to international efforts to cope with climate change and seek partnership and support from other countries and international organisations for Vietnam’s response to climate change.
During his trips to Belgium and the European Union, the PM is scheduled to hold talks with Belgian Prime Minister Michel on ways to boost ties in economy, trade, investment, transportation, aviation and aerospace.
