Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc asked for political determination and feasible measures toachieve growth target in each sector during the Government’s May meeting inHanoi on June 3.

He made it clear that this meetingdiscusses measures to achieve a 6.7 percent growth set for this year.

Accordingly, agriculture must grow3.05 percent, in which farm produce export must rake in 33 billion USD. Industryshould expand by 7.91 percent, with mining, manufacturing and engineering,electricity and construction up 10.5 percent.

Services must grow 7.19 percent, inwhich tourism should hike more than 30 percent and serve over 13 million foreigners.

The PM directed accelerating capitaldisbursement which has so far reached 30 percent while speeding up equitisationof State-owned enterprises.

Cabinet members were asked to proposesolutions to clearing business obstacles and oversee how State groups and corporationsfollow the Party Central Committee, National Assembly and government’spolicies.

The Ministry of Planning andInvestment reported that a record 50,500 new firms were established in thefirst five months of this year. During the period, inflation was put undercontrol while foreign direct investment attraction and tourism services recordedgrowth.

The Finance Ministry offered refundof added-value tax online nationwide from May 12, marking a leap inadministrative reform.

For the first time, the government didnot delay the submission of its reports to the National Assembly (NA), andsubmitted 13 bills to the 14th NA’s third session for consideration.

The government leader also took theoccasion to brief Cabinet members on the outcomes of his freshly-ended USvisit, saying that Vietnam is one of the 16 countries running a trade surpluswith the US. Both sides discussed a range of areas, from trade to nationaldefence-security, including the East Sea issue.

The visit also marked a significantmilestone in investment promotion, with the signing of economic deals worth upto 12 billion USD, including business licenses in engineering and equipment, hesaid.

He added that intellectuals, overseas Vietnamese and US Congressmen expressedtheir support for Vietnam’s multilateral relations policy, particularly amidglobal integration at present.

In social affairs, the PM called fordealing with serious land erosion in the southwest, the medical incident in HoaBinh provincial general hospital and pavement encroachment in localities.-VNA
