Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam wants to attract moreinvestment from the US, especially in finance, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc toldformer US Secretary of the Treasury Tymothy Geithner, who is President of WarburgPincus during a reception in Hanoi on September 20.
The PM congratulated Warburg Pincus on reaching financialinvestment deals with VinaCapital Fund and affirmed that Vietnam wants majorforeign investors to become strategic partners in equitised firms in thecountry.
The Vietnamese business environment keeps improving whilethe macro-economy and socio-political environment have been stable, he said.
The Vietnamese government sets drastic reform in various fields, especially inState-owned enterprises, he said, adding that during the process, thegovernment, ministries and agencies always listen to opinions of businesses to continueimproving business climate.
Geithner expressed his optimism about Vietnam’s economicprospect and growth potential in the near future.
He said it is the right time for Warburg Pincus to increaseinvestment in Vietnam because the government is stepping up economic andadministrative reform, thus making it easier for foreign investors to expandoperations in the country.-VNA
