President meets Japan’s lower house speaker

President Tran Dai Quang has urged Japan’s House of Representatives (lower house) and the National Assembly of Vietnam to intensify the sharing of legislative experience and further promote their role in the development of relations between the two countries.

Tokyo (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang hasurged Japan’s House of Representatives (lower house) and the National Assembly ofVietnam to intensify the sharing of legislative experience and further promotetheir role in the development of relations between the two countries.

The President met with Speaker of the Japanese Houseof Representatives Tadamori Oshima in Tokyo on June 1 as part of his Statevisit to Japan from May 29 to June 2.

He said the two sides should closely coordinate andsupport each other at regional and international forums like the Asia-Pacific ParliamentaryForum and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The leader applauded Japan’s continued support forVietnam’s socio-economic development through official development assistance(ODA).

He called on the Japanese lower house to pay moreattention to exchanges between ministries, agencies and localities of the twocountries.

Vietnam attaches importance to the extensive strategicpartnership with Japan and regards the country as a leading and long-termpartner, President Quang said, expressing his hope for more comprehensive anddeeper Vietnam-Japan relationship, for the sake of the two countries’ people,and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and theworld.

For his part, Oshima expressed his delight at theoutstanding and practical developments of the extensive strategic partnershipover the pat time, emphasising high-level visits by the two countries’ leadersin 2017.

He said he was impressed by Vietnam’s activedevelopments during his official visit to the country in May 2017.

The House of Representatives and the House of Councilorsare ready to step up exchanges between Vietnamese and Japanese parliamentarians,contributing to promoting to the extensive strategic partnership in allspheres, he said.

The Speaker pledges to do his utmost, together withthe lower house, to advance the bilateral ties to a new height.

Oshima shared President Quang’s views on the need tomaintain visits of all-level delegations and friendly exchanges between the twolegislative bodies, especially young parliamentarians, considering this afoundation to ensure political trust, helping promote bilateral links ineconomy, trade, investment, culture, health care, national defence andsecurity.-VNA
