President Vo Van Thuong’s official visit makes headlines in Japan
Japan’s press agencies have highlighted President Vo Van Thuong’s ongoing official visit to the country, especially the elevation of bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.

Tokyo (VNA) – Japan’s press agencies have highlighted President Vo Van Thuong’s ongoing official visit to the country,especially the elevation of bilateral relationship to a ComprehensiveStrategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.
The Japanese government’s official website onNovember 27 ran an article on the talks between President Thuong and PrimeMinister Kishida Fumio, which took place earlier the same day.
With the theme of “Japan, Vietnam to strengthensecurity and economic ties,” another article published by Japan Today onNovember 28 said the announcement of the new partnership meant that Japan has nowgained the status of Vietnam’s “top-tier partner.”
It cited Kishida as saying at a joint press conferenceafter their meeting that Vietnam is “a key partner in achieving a free and openIndo-Pacific.”
Thuong also said that close cooperation between thetwo countries contributes to the region's peace and prosperity, according tothe article.
“Kishida and Thuong agreed to expand theircooperation in wide range of areas from trade, climate change and economy toachieve a free and open Indo-Pacific,” it said.
Public broadcaster NHKand Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) also covered the meetings between theVietnamese leader and former Secretary-General of the ruling Liberal DemocraticParty (LDP) of Japan Nikai Toshihiro, former PM Yoshihide Suga, and members ofthe Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance.
President Thuong’s visit fromNovember 27-30 is his first official visit to Japan as the head of state, andthe fourth by a Vietnamese State leader since the two countries set up theirdiplomatic relations 50 years ago.
It is taking place in thecontext that Vietnam and Japan have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in all fields./.
Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong is paying an official visit to Japan from November 27-30. On November 27, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida hosted a welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese State leader in Tokyo. After the welcome ceremony, the two leaders held talks.
President Vo Van Thuong on November 27 described the adoption of the joint statement on the elevation of the Vietnam - Japan relations to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World” as an important event ushering in a new chapter in the bilateral ties.
