Hanoi (VNA) –Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc warmly welcomed Speaker of the House ofRepresentatives of Japan Oshima Tadamori, describing his visit as significantto fostering the traditional friendship between the two law-making bodies andthe two peoples.
He received the Speaker in Hanoi on May 4, the first day of the guest’sthree-day official visit to Vietnam.
He showed his delight at strong, comprehensive and practical gains reapedacross politics, security-defence, economics, agriculture and forestry betweenthe two countries, noting these have contributed to intensifying mutual trustand understanding.
The Governmentleader hailed the outcomes of the talks between the guest and National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and approved the two legislative bodies’ plansto step up the exchange between young legislators, who, he described, arecrucial elements helping develop the legislative cooperation and national relations.
He took the occasion to thank Japan for the attention it has given to Vietnamand its people, especially the valuable ODA source to spur socio-economicdevelopment and reduce poverty.
PM Phuc suggested the countries boost high-level legislative exchanges andcontacts to exchange experience and asked for continuous support from the guestand the Japanese parliament in the provision of ODA for large-scaleinfrastructure construction, human resources training and climate changeresponse.
He said he hopes Japan will broaden the bilateral cooperation in labour,receive more Vietnamese trainees engaging in agriculture, fisheries, andconstruction, and give due attention to the Vietnamese community in thecountry.
The Speaker briefedhis host of his talks with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan,noting that both sides agreed to ratchet up cooperation in diplomatic,economic, security and defence affairs, people-to-people exchange, andespecially the ties between the two law-making bodies.
He expressed hishope that the two governments will speed up coordination to connect morecooperation and investment activities and pledged that he always supports andfacilitates trade and investment activities between the two business circles aswell as the provision of ODA for Vietnam.
He said he believes that Vietnam, with its experience and capacity, willsuccessfully host the APEC Year 2017.-VNA
