Procuracy sector reviews legal assistance law

The People’s Supreme Procuracy on Sept. 21 opened a two-day conference to review the three-year implementation of the Law on Legal Assistance in the procuracy sector.
The People’s Supreme Procuracy on Sept. 21 opened a two-day conferenceto review the three-year implementation of the Law on Legal Assistancein the procuracy sector.

The law stipulates the implementation of legal assistance in civil andpenal cases, extradition, the transfer of prisoners between Vietnam andforeign countries, and the responsibility of State agencies in thefield.

Over the past three years, the People’s Supreme Procuracyhandled more than 160 requests of legal assistance from 28 countrieswith a large number of overseas Vietnamese, such as the Czech Republic,Poland, Germany and Russia.

Those requests involved many areas and serious crimes, including murder, drugs, corruption and fraud.

ThePeople’s Supreme Procuracy also received 33 procedural cases fromlocalities to ask for assistance in penal cases with foreign elements.

Infuture, the People’s Supreme Procuracy plans to coordinate withrelevant ministries and agencies to negotiate and sign legal assistanceagreements with other countries, firstly with countries having a largenumber of overseas Vietnamese./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
