Programme to provide clean water for mountainous areas

Hanoi (VNA)-
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a programme on searching forunderground water resources to supply mountainous areas and areas facingshortages of water.

The programme will beimplemented in 41 provinces, including 15 in the northern region, 11 in the northcentral and south central regions, four in the Central Highlands region and 10 inthe southern region. 

The programme includesthree projects. The first project will search for underground water resourcesin mountainous areas and areas lacking water.

The second project willinclude research on scientific and technological methods and policies to managewater resources. It also looks for methods to supply water and adapt toconditions in mountainous provinces.

The final project isto build water supply systems in mountainous areas.

The programme, scheduledto finish in 2023, is being conducted by different ministries, including theMinistry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, andMinistry of Construction in cooperation with the People’s Committees of the relatedprovinces./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
