ProPak Vietnam, Plastics & Rubber exhibition open

HCM City (VNA) – The InternationalProcessing and Packaging Exhibition and Conference (ProPak Vietnam) and theInternational Plastics and Rubber Technologies and Material Exhibition (Plastics& Rubber Vietnam) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 20.

According to BT Tee, Director of the UBM BESVietnam, the organizer of the events, the ProPak Vietnam 2018 draws 420companies from 29 countries and territories such as India, Germany, theRepublic of Korea, Japan and Thailand.

Meanwhile, about 160 enterprises from 20countries and territories are participating in the Plastics &Rubber Vietnam2018.

The annual events, which will last until March22, aims to introduce products and materials, machines, equipment andtechnologies in plastics and rubber sectors as well as processing andpackaging.

Alongside, they give a chance for businesses tomeet and seek partners, promoting cooperation and import-export activities,contributing to boosting the growth of the industries in Vietnam.

Paolo Lemma, Italian Trade Counsellor inVietnam, said that most of the participating firms have distributors,representative offices or branches in Vietnam. They are seeking businessopportunities in the developing market and foster connections with local peers.

The manufacturing of packaging machines is oneof the most dynamic industries of Italy with the involvement of about 300production facilities, he said, adding that over 50 percent of automaticpackaging machines in the world are originated from Italy and Germany.

The plastics and rubber sectors of Vietnam havedrawn great attention of many investors both at home and abroad.

In the January-November period of 2017, Vietnamearned 2 billion USD from exporting 1.2 million tonnes of rubber, up 39 percentin value and 8.4 percent in volume. Meanwhile, plastics exports grew by 17.3percent to over 3 billion USD in 2017.-VNA
