Quang Binh distributes rice aid to poor people

Central Quang Binh province is working hard to distribute more than 1,200 tonnes of rice as aid from the Government intended to help poor people overcome the current between-crop food shortage.

The mountainous Tuyen Hoa and Bo Trach districts will receive the biggest quantity of rice, at 209 and 200 tonnes each.

Distribution has been experiencing many difficulties due togeographical distances as the beneficiary districts spread over largeareas, said Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, an official of the provincialDepartment of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

However, the Department will do its utmost to finish the relief plan before April 1, she noted.

Earlier this year, the Government also allocated 1,000 tonnes of ricefor distribution among poor people in Quang Binh province in order tohelp them have a decent Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.-VNA
