Quang Nam (VNA) – The central coastal province of Quang Nam aimsto have another 55 communes recognised as new-style rural areas during2017-2020.
The locality hopes to have 11 new style rural communes in 2017, 14 in 2018, 14in 2019 and 16 in 2020.
From 2011 to 2016, 61 communes became new style rural areas.
According to Le Muon, Vice Director of the provincial Department of Agricultureand Rural Development, besides support from the Government, all communes needto be proactive to ensure successful new-style rural building.
The national target programme on new-style rural areas, initiated in 2010, sets19 criteria in socio-economic development, politics and defence, aiming tomodernise rural areas.
The criteria cover the development of infrastructure, the improvement ofproduction capacities, environmental protection and the promotion of culturalvalues.-VNA
As many as 2,720 communes, or 30.48 percent of the country’s total, have been recognised as new style rural areas as of the end of May 2017, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
One district and 123 communes in the Central Highlands region have fulfilled all criteria of the National Target Programme on New-style Rural Area Building, according to the Steering Committee for Central Highlands Region.
The Steering Committee for the National Target Programme on New Rural Development of northern Hai Duong province has recognised additional 13 communes as new-style rural areas.
Hanoi’s Dan Phuong and Dong Anh districts have been recognised as new-style rural areas, the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported on August 8.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
