Quang Nam works with Lao province to protect forest

The forest management department of the central province of Quang Nam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with its counterpart body in Laos’ Sekong province on March 16.

Quang Nam (VNA) – The forest management department of the central province of QuangNam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with itscounterpart body in Laos’ Sekong province on March 16.

Quang Nam andSekong share a 157km border line.  

Under the MoU,the provinces will coordinate in managing and protecting forest resources inareas along their shared boundary in the 2017-2020 period.

The two sides willshare information and experience in forest management and work together to dealwith violations of regulations on forest management and protection.

They pledged tointensify the monitoring of the trade of forestry products and promote localresidents’ engagement in forest protection.

The twoprovinces will maintain joint patrols of forests along the border and hol💛dtraining for forest rangers to enhance their capacity. -VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, tre🥀atment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
