Quang Ngai calls for more assistance to curb coastal erosion

The People’s Committee of central Quang Ngai province has sought 233 billion VND (10 million USD) from the Government for undertaking urgent works to prevent coastal erosion.

Quang Ngai (VNA) - The People’sCommittee of central Quang Ngai province has sought 233 billion VND (10 millionUSD) from the Government for undertaking urgent works to prevent coastalerosion.

The funds would be used to build coastalembankments in Binh Hai and Binh Tri communes in Binh Son district, Pho Thanhcommune in Pho Duc district and Tinh Khe commune in Quang Ngai city.

Local residents have been expressing concern toauthorities as erosion has threatened their lives and properties and publicinfrastructure.

Last year, the government provided 125 billionVND for the central province.

In addition to the government’s assistance, theprovince also plans to use 22 billion VND from its own resources for these works.-VNA

Vietnam pioneers use of 🐻AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycl♌ing, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public.
