RCEP leaders pledge to finalise negotiations of deal

Leaders of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) reaffirmed their determination to soon reach a RCEP agreement between ASEAN and its six partners of Australia, China, the Republic of Korea, India, Japan and New Zealand.

Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of the Regional Comprehensive EconomicPartnership (RCEP) reaffirmed their determination to soon reach a RCEP agreementbetween ASEAN and its six partners of Australia, China, the Republic of Korea,India, Japan and New Zealand.

During their meeting in Manila, the Philippines on the framework of the31st ASEAN Summit, the leaders passed a document on major content thatmust be reached to conclude negotiations for the deal, while agreeing to directtheir negotiation teams to speed up the process in 2018.

They held that a comprehensive, win-win, high quality, modern and committeddeal will help form a favourable trade and investment environment, thus facilitatinggrowth and equal economic development as well as integration of the region.

The leaders concurred to focus on market access, principles andcooperation, and the strengthening of domestic consultations.

They will concentrate on seeking measures to remove obstacles indevelopment level gap as well as difference in economic scale, commitments and implementationof member countries.-VNA
